Hello! Welcome to my experiment. You see, I've fancied myself a writer since the 4th grade. Back then I would write stories involving me and my friends, each day setting us in a different predicament in a different setting. We were heroes that ranged from the wild west, to space exploration, to American ninjas. Since then I have accumulated several ideas and formulated major story lines along the lines of four full individual novels. In this last year I have written a total of seven pages.
I have plenty of distractions, but no excuses and quite frankly I'm going to run out of time to get all these ideas out of my head and onto paper if I don't start concentrating on getting this done. So my first step is to start writing, because the advice says write something everyday and write what you know.
Writing everyday is out. Not going to happen. I have 3 children 7 yo and under in the house and 2 jobs. I'll just turn that into write every so often and make it quick. Next is to write what you know. Yeah, well, that is the question.
What do I know? Like any Gemini, I am an expert at a lot of things, but a master of none. What I know is that I'm 42 and trying to be a good husband, father, boss, and employee while trying to support my family by working two jobs. In the meantime I try to maintain sanity by finding a little time here and there to do things I like to do, which is by being a 42 year old nine year old. Oh and go fishing and play softball.
So I can't guarantee this blog is going to be insightful, funny, entertaining or helpful in any sort of way, but I'm going to write to get into the habit of writing so that I can make a living (or supplement it) by being paid by just making stuff up. How grand is that?
